Thanks for the Memories

One of my favorite childhood memories of Christmas was watching the old Rankin Bass holiday specials. Besides family gatherings, a few holiday masses, and occasional winter holiday traveling from Tennessee to St. Louis, we didn't have many special family traditions for Christmastime. I just remember how I'd look forward to those TV specials each year. Watching them year after year helped us fall in love with the quirky characters and know all the songs by heart. These old "stop motion" animation classics have stood the test of time, and our kids love to watch them even now. Forget any of the newer Christmas specials - they all fall short in comparison to the good ol' Rankin Bass creative talents.

Our favorites include Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Year Without a Santa Claus, The Little Drummer Boy, Frosty the Snowman, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. The voice talents in these specials was top notch as well.

Kudos to Rankin and Bass for that yearly nostalgic trip down holiday animation memory lane!
