I like my coffee strong. Since I don't have an espresso machine I have to settle for trying to create an espresso-like effect with my Mr. Coffee. Doesn't really work, just brews very very strong coffee. It's OK, though, because lots of steamy, frothed half-n-half tops it off perfectly. It's the way I start every single morning without fail.

I used to kid myself that I was not addicted to coffee. But when I look at the definition of the word 'addiction', I begin to reconsider.

Here's what I found at
addiction - noun; 1) the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma;
2)The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something.

Let's see...I do have one every morning so I guess that fits the "habitual" part. When I don't get to enjoy my morning latte, I guess you could say that it might be mildly harmful to others. Without the stuff, I get a mild headache and slightly irritable. I'm careful not to abuse anyone if (forbid it!) I don't get my morning latte. Depending on the mood I'm in when I wake up, it can be severely traumatic, at least for me, if I must forgo my morning fix even for one day. That seems similar to the "cessation causes severe trauma" part. Hmmm...

My name is Amanda, and I'm a latte-holic.

Admitting the problem is the first step in recovery. Even so, I doubt this is one addiction I will give up anytime soon.
