A few years ago we made a decision for our family. We decided to take the time and bear the expense of at least one family vacation per year. For about 3 years we have kept that tradition, and we try to encourage our kids to be grateful for whatever vacation we get to take, big or small. October has been our month of choice as it's a good time to avoid crowds and receive off season discounts, but we missed our regularly scheduled vacation due to the chaos of preparing our home for sale. With the flexibility of homeschooling comes the perk that we can pick up and go at a moment's notice. So, we're off! No school, no work, no house keeping, no domestic responsibilities of any kind.
