Current Events

We've been feverishly working to get our home ready to sell. We hope to give a warm and welcoming first impression to potential buyers and that takes lots of preparation. Jeff has also been busy at work with various projects, etc., so our plate is full.

But no matter what our "plans", life does go on. And in the midst of preparing for selling and moving, we found out yesterday that Jeff's father had a stroke. He is in Neuro ICU and after further tests they determined that fluctuations in his blood pressure caused a lesion in his brain, or a stroke.

In late summer of 2000, Jeff's dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's. That was roughly the same time that I found out my father had cancer. It was a double whammy for our family, but we learned to take it a day at a time in both cases and to be thankful for the quality of time we could spend with family.

In 2006, Jeff's dad had deep brain simulators surgically implanted in his brain. (Here is a description of DBS implant surgery and a picture - just FYI.) His dad definitely "suffers" from his Parkinson's, but has experienced a reduction in his tremors (and other Parkinson's related symptoms) thanks to the implants. We hate that he has to suffer at all, but we're grateful for the improvements brought on by the implants. Now we're praying that he will recover as fully as possible from the effects of the stroke.

Thanks for your prayers.

Don't forget to thank God for today- and make the most of it - since it can change in an instant.

Amanda, my FIL had a stroke in May, so I understand this sad and scary time. He will be in my prayers as will the selling of your house.
