I Know "Karate"...and 7 other Japanese Words

Caleb & Lucas have been taking a karate class at Robinson's Karate Company. In particular, they are taking Kenpo Karate along with self defense. Their instructor, Steve Robinson, is a really cool guy who has a gift for making the class fun and exciting while maintaining good discipline. He is a veteran black belt who loves teaching kids. He's a patient instructor, but very clear about limits. He enforces high expectations about behavior in class and tells the kids that the same good behavior should carry over at home, school, etc. Robinson's program focuses on bully defense strategies and fitness conditioning. They stress to the kids that the moves they learn in class do work, so "don't go home and try them on family or friends". A
"belt system" is used as the key to building self-esteem. With each belt earned, the kids can take pride in their sense of accomplishment. If you are a fellow home school family, they offer classes for kids during the day. If you live in Saint Louis, give them a try. Check out the website at http://www.robinsonskarate.com/
